Joe Dallesandro (b. 1948) was a ubiquitous shirtless AW superstar and sex symbol in the late 1960s and early ’70s. He appeared in Aw/Morrissey’s steamiest films, including Heat, Flesh, and Trash. One of his babies also appears on screen at times. He is immortalized in Lou Reed’s song “Walk on the Wild Side” as “Little Joe.”
Sylvia Miles (b. 1932) is the female lead in the 1969 cult classic Midnight Cowboy, for which she was nominated for an Oscar for best actress in a supporting role. Miles was a Factory fan and landed the role of a sex-crazed, washed-up Hollywood star in the 1971 AW/Morrissey film Heat, one of the team’s more critically acclaimed productions.
