One-of-a-kind Polacolor type 108 shot by Andy Warhol
1972

Truman Capote (1924–1984) was an American writer best known for Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood. AW was captivated by him in the early ’50s, and the writer inspired his first exhibition ever, "fifteen drawings based on the writings of Truman Capote” in 1952.
The two eventually became friends. He was a regular in the hedonistic party scene of
Studio 54, where he notoriously parked himself in the DJ booth. In 1979 AW asked him to write a monthly column for interview— “conversations with Capote”—in exchange for a portrait by AW.
