One-of-a-kind black & white print shot by Andy Warhol
1983

Christopher Makos (b. 1948) is a New York–based photographer who worked closely with AW after having apprenticed with Man Ray in Paris. Makos was an edgy, creative force in the Factory, and introduced AW to downtown writers, musicians, and artists. He photographed AW and his circle around town and in the Factory, and made a notable series of the artist in drag, titled Altered Images. AW called him “the most modern photographer in America.”
